One Visit Crowns & Restorations
No impressions, No temporaries, No metal, One appointment & Biocompatible!

Cerec 3D is the world’s most advanced dental restoration system. With it, we can create life-like porcelain crowns, veneers, inlays, and fillings in our office in just one visit. Previously, these types of tooth restorations required at least two or more appointments. During the first visit, the tooth would be prepared, an impression taken, and a temporary would be placed. The impression would then be sent out to a lab for the restoration to be made. The patient would then need to return for a second visit to have the restoration (crown, etc.) cemented. With this leading-edge technology, that has all changed. Now we prepare the tooth, make the restoration and cement it all in just one visit, and in usually less than 2 hours!

This technology has been around for more than 25 years, making Cerec a well-established, proven clinical procedure. It is “Computer Assisted Design – Computer Assisted Manufacture” or CAD CAM. CAD CAM technology allows us to obtain a full 360 degree perspective of your mouth, take an accurate three-dimensional picture of the damaged tooth, and then transfer it to a color computer screen. The greatest benefit is the ability to be even more conservative by retaining more tooth structure than we could during a conventional restoration; which is always our preference. All this is possible because CAD CAM technology allows us to bond the restoration to the existing tooth. This also brings down the cost.
The dentist designs the restoration right before your eyes and is able to fine tune this design on the computer screen. At last the image is sent to the milling chamber where it is precisely created while we monitor the process. The laboratory step and the necessity for a temporary are totally eliminated. Also eliminated are the potential inconveniences of discomfort, recementation, and watching what you eat for several weeks as you await your final crown or restoration.
This technique is not appropriate for all crowns and restorations. But as the technology continues to evolve, we will use it in more and more situations.
The ceramic materials used in this process are regarded as exceptionally biocompatible. This means that the properties and function match the biological environment of your body and do not cause any unwanted reactions. Ceramic high compatibility is attributed to:
- Volatile substances being eliminated during the ceramic manufacturing
- Harmless ingredients
- High stability in the oral environment
- High resistance to acidic foods and solutions
- Low tendency to plaque formation
- No undesired interaction with other dental materials
- No chemical decomposition
Ceramics are considered to be the most durable of all the dental materials and show a lower potential to cause irritation or sensitization, if any at all. Add that to their life-like, natural looking capabilities, and you have an ideal restoration that can be accomplished in just one visit. With good homecare and regular dental visits, these restorations can last a very long time.
